As a result of the Donetsk region of Ukraine being shelled by Russia’s Armed Forces on 28 February, two people were killed and five injured, the Prosecutor General’s Office of Ukraine reports.
In particular, a family was killed during artillery attacks on the cities of Bakhmut and Chasiv Yar and the Lastochkyne village — the body of a 73-year-old woman has already been extracted from under the rubble, the body of her 68-year-old husband has not yet been found.
Pre-trial investigations on violating the laws and customs of war have been initiated, the Prosecutor General’s Office adds.
Yesterday, 28 February, it was reported that at least five people had been killed in Russian attacks on the Kharkiv and Kherson regions.
According to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), at least 8,101 Ukrainian civilians have been killed since the start of the Russian invasion, while at least 13,479 have been injured.
The organisation notes that the real number of victims is significantly higher, seeing as obtaining data from the places where heavy fighting occurred takes time, while a lot of reports have not yet been confirmed.
