US President Joe Biden has said that China’s plan on peaceful settlement of the Ukraine war will not benefit anyone other than Russia, Reuters reports.
“[Russian President Vladimir] Putin’s applauding it, so how could it be any good? I’ve seen nothing in the plan that would indicate that there is something that would be beneficial to anyone other than Russia, if the Chinese plan were followed,” he said in an interview with ABC News.
The idea is that China is to hold negotiations on the end of a war “that’s a totally unjust war for Ukraine is just not rational,” he added.
China presented its plan on resolving the Ukrainian crisis on 24 February. It contains 12 points, including a ceasefire, respect for sovereignty of all countries, and termination of unilateral sanctions. China calls on both countries to sign up to gradual de-escalation and warns against the use of nuclear weapons.
Sources familiar with the US intelligence community reports told CNN and The Wall Street Journal that China is studying possibilities for exporting drones and ammunition to Russia to fuel Moscow’s war effort against Ukraine. WSJ sources say that China is looking into supplying “artillery and armed drones”. However, no final decision has been made.
Earlier, Der Spiegel reported that Russia was involved in talks about full-scale production of kamikaze drones with China’s Xi’an Bingo Intelligent Aviation Technology. It is claimed that the company agreed to test and send 100 ZT-180 drones to Russia by April.
Earlier, WSJ wrote that China was supplying Russia with technologies required to wage its war on Ukraine despite the international sanctions and export control measures.
