Kyiv: Russian missiles crossed airspaces of Moldova, Romania

Russia’s Kalibr cruise missiles have travelled via airspaces of Moldova and NATO member Romania on their way to hit targets in Ukraine, said Valery Zaluzhny, Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

“Today, 10 February, two Russian Kalibr cruise missiles crossed Ukraine’s state border with Moldova at 10:18 AM. These missiles then entered Romania’s airspace at approximately 10:33 AM. After this, the missiles re-entered the Ukrainian airspace where the three states share a border,” he wrote on Facebook, adding that the missiles were launched from the Black Sea.

According to Yuri Ihnat, spokesperson for the Ukrainian forces, Kyiv could intercept these missiles but did not do so immediately, realising the potential risks and dangers to citizens of the foreign countries.

Earlier on 10 February, Ukrainian cities were targeted by large-scale missile attacks.

Update

The Romanian Defence Ministry cannot confirm Kyiv’s report that Russian missiles entered its airspace, Reuters writes.

At the same time, Moldova has confirmed that a Russian missile has crossed its airspace according to the agency.

Earlier, missile debris landed in Moldova on 5 December and 14 January.
