Ukrainian national fined in Russia for saying ‘I support Bandera’ during a public confrontation

In the Russian city of Ryazan, a district court has fined a 34-year-old citizen of Ukraine 15,000 rubles (€195) for “discrediting” the Russian army due to the fact that during a confrontation in a supermarket he had said “I support Bandera”, as per a press release posted on the official court website.

“The court has found that citizen B., while in the supermarket, was talking to the staff using curse words and said: ‘I support Bandera’, as well as ‘Russian servicemen taking part in the special military operation are killing Ukrainian civilians’,” the statement reads.

The fine assigned to the Ukrainian national comes down to only half of the minimum amount stipulated by the “discreditation” article.

Earlier today, it was reported that the Central District Court in the Russian city of Chita had fined a local citizen twice for talking about his previous fine — in December 2022, he received a fine for describing his dream about Zelensky on Instagram — in interviews.
