Russia’s Military Prosecutor’s Office reverts its lawsuit to block websites of UN, Turkey’s Anadolu

A court in Russia’s Vladimir has dropped the case of blocking the UN news website and Anadolu, the Turkish state-run news agency, an entry on the court’s website says.

The local Military Prosecutor’s Office filed a lawsuit earlier, demanding that those websites be blocked. It is unknown what was the reason behind this lawsuit. The first court session was scheduled for 27 January. The agency, however, decided to withdraw.

Over 9,000 websites were blocked in Russia due to wartime censorship by Roskomnadzor as of 27 December 2022, according to Roskomsvoboda. The total number of websites added to the black list in 2022 was 274,500.
