Russia blocks CIA and FBI websites for ‘discrediting’ its army

Roskomnadzor, Russia’s censorship agency, has blocked the websites of the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Department of State’s Rewards For Justice programme, Roskomsvobodareports.

“These websites have been posting publications that contained false publicly significant information and discredited the Russian Armed Forces,” the watchdog said in a statement.

Roskomnadzor often blocks websites upon request of Russia’s Office of Prosecutor General, however, this time it is unclear what public agency requested the ban.

A court in Russia’s Vladimir dropped the case of blocking the UN news website and Anadolu, the Turkish state-run news agency, earlier today.
