US expands sanctions against Wagner Group, founder Prigozhin. The mercenary company now designated as transnational criminal organisation

The US Treasury has rolled out more sanctions against Russian individuals and legal entities, the list is available on the official website.

The sanctions are imposed against shipyards as well as people and entities linked to the mercenary Wagner Group and its founder Yevgeny Prigozhin. The private military company itself was designated as a transnational criminal organisation.

“Today’s expanded sanctions on Wagner, as well as new sanctions on their associates and other companies enabling the Russian military complex, will further impede Putin’s ability to arm and equip his war machine,” said Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen.

The US also imposed sanctions against Russian Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov, head of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and his wife Gulsina, head of the national penitentiary service Arkady Gostev, several other officials, and Yota founder Sergey Adonyev.
