47news: Russian man sentenced to 23 years for hiring killer to murder family of four released for serving in Wagner Group. He is now in Turkey

Journalists have identified another Wagner Group mercenary: St. Petersburg entrepreneur Alexander Tyutin who was sent to prison for 23 years after he hired a contract killer to slaughter a family of four, including two children, 47news reports.

According to the local news outlet, Tyutin was recruited by the Wagner Group in early July. However, he returned to St. Petersburg without injuries or wounds already in late December. On 17 January, Tyutin flew to Turkey’s Antalya where his wife travelled shortly before.

47news reports that Tyutin was detained in 2018 when attempting to hire a killer to kill his niece over an inheritance argument. The investigation uncovered that back in 2005 he hired a killer to kill a whole family: his business partner, his wife, 11-year-old son, and 15-year-old daughter were shot and killed with an AK assault rifle. The family was then slaughtered with an axe to make sure they were dead. In 2021, a jury trial unanimously found Tyutin guilty and sentenced him to 23 years in prison.

Earlier, another freed Wagner Group convict was identified: organised crime gang member Anton Ionov. According to St. Petersburg’s Rotonda, between 2008 and 2015 Ionov and his gang were engaged in racketeering, robbery assaults, and drug trafficking around St. Petersburg. Several gang members were detained in December 2015, Ionov was sentenced to 11 years in a high-security prison in July 2018.
