Ukraine’s authorities: death toll following Kherson shelling rises to 16

Over the past day, 16 people have been killed as a result of the city of Kherson having been shelled by Russian troops, the head of the Kherson region administration Yaroslav Yanushevych says.

It is noted that among the victims are three employees of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine who were mine clearing the shelled areas. At least 64 people received injuries of varying severity, Yanushevych adds.

According to him, Russian forces shelled the Kherson region of Ukraine 71 times, using artillery, multiple rocket launchers, and mortars. “The invaders carried out heavy shelling of the centre of Kherson — civilians were killed, civic buildings destroyed. Furthermore, industrial spaces, medical institutions, private and multi-storey buildings came under fire from the enemy,” the head of the administration writes.

On 11 November, Ukraine’s Armed Forces took back control over the city of Kherson. The next day, the regional military administration, police, and Security Service of Ukraine resumed work in the city. After withdrawing from Kheron, the Russian army has been regularly shelling the city.
