Russia’s Defence Minister Shoigu visits front line and personally inspects group of troops

Russia’s Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu has arrived at the Southern Military District and inspected a group of troops, the ministry reports.

Shoigu flew around the areas of troop deployments and checked on the front line positions of Russian divisions in the combat zone.

“On the front line, Sergei Shoigu interacted with Russian servicemen and thanked them for their exemplary performance in combat missions,” the statement by the Defence Ministry reads.

A report on the current situation and the actions of Russian troops in the operational directions was made to the minister. It is noted that Shoigu paid special attention to “organisation of all-round support for the troops, conditions of accommodation of personnel in the field, and work of medical and logistics units.”.

Yesterday, the Kremlin reported that Russian President Vladimir Putin had spent the entire Friday working at a Joint Staff of military branches involved in the Ukraine War. It is unclear where the staff is located.

Judging by the photos and videos published by the Kremlin, the top brass of the Russian military also attended the meeting, including Shoigu, the Head of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov, and Sergey Surovikin, the commander of the joint grouping in Ukraine.
