Yesterday, 5 December, a drone attacked the Engels airfield in Russia’s Saratov region; furthermore, a fuel truck caught fire at the Dyagilevo airfield near Russia’s Ryazan as a result of an explosion following another drone attack. The Russian Ministry of Defence said that the attack by Ukraine’s drones had killed three servicemen and injured four.

According to the Russian ministry, air defence forces intercepted the Ukrainian UAVs as they were flying at a low altitude. The crash and explosion of the wreckage on the Russian airfields caused minor damage to the hull armour of the two aeroplanes, the agency says. In response, Russia’s Defence Ministry struck “the command and control system and related defence complex facilities, communication hubs, power plants, and military units of Ukraine”.
