Russia’s Novosibirsk court arrests United Russia deputy, who ran over six-year-old and left the scene, for 11 days

A town of Tatarsk justice of the peace has arrested a deputy of the Novosibirsk region branch of the United Russia political party Sergey Mamontov for 11 days, the regional prosecutor’s office reports. Mamontov previously ran over a six-year-old boy and left the scene of the accident, abandoning the child without providing any help.

Mamontov has been found guilty of leaving the place of a road accident. According to the court’s statement, Mamontov ran over the boy and left the place of the accident yesterday, 30 October.

Furthermore, the Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal case against the man for leaving someone in danger. In accordance with this article of the Criminal Code, he is facing a fine and correctional labour or community service.

The accident occurred in the town of Tatarsk, Novosibirsk region, at around 6PM on 30 October. Mamontov will be expelled from the party “with disgrace”, chief of the regional executive committee of the United Russia party Yuliya Shvets said earlier today.

The boy was taken to the district hospital, he is in a serious, stable condition; he was provided all necessary medical help, the local administration stated earlier in the day.
