Some streets of Russia’s Belgorod left without electricity. Eyewitnesses report major fire on substation Yuzhnaya

In Russia’s Belgorod, a transformer has turned off on the substation Yuzhnaya due to overvoltage, governor of the region Vyacheslav Gladkov says.

“For now, two streets remain without power: the Gubkina street and the boulevard of Pervogo Saluta. Emergency crews are already working on dealing with the aftermath. The reconnection will take one and a half hours,” he clarified.

Footage showing the resulting fire has appeared online.

In September, residents of over ten streets of Belgorod and several villages in the Belgorod district were left without electricity following an explosion on the substation. There were reports that the districts Kharkovskaya Gora and Novy were also left without water.
