Pro-Russian official and his wife killed in occupied Ukrainian city of Berdyansk

Oleg Boyko, the “deputy mayor for housing and public utilities” of Russia-occupied Berdyansk, was killed on Friday along with his wife Lyudmila, Vladimir Rogov, a member of the pro-Russian administration of Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region, wrote.

“Today, on 16 September, a double murder took place <…> in Berdyansk. Deputy chief of the military-civil administration of Berdyansk for housing and public utilities Oleg Boyko and his wife Lyudmila Boyko were killed in front of their garage. Lyudmila Boyko headed the city territorial election commission for the holding of the referendum,” Rogov wrote.

In early September, the car of the city “commandant” Artem Bardin exploded in Berdyansk. The man died of his wounds in the hospital.

It was reported earlier that Russian officials had postponed the referendums in the occupied areas of Ukraine “indefinitely” due to the successful counteroffensive of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kharkiv region.

Several days before that, voting equipment was brought to the occupied part of Ukraine’s Zaporizhzhia region.
