Moldova's civil aviation authority blocks Air Moldova from restarting flights between Chișinău and Moscow

Moldova's civil aviation authority has blocked Air Moldova and other national carriers from restarting flights between Chișinău and Moscow, Reuters cites the country’s Deputy Prime Minister Andrei Spînu.

Air Moldova announced yesterday that it would restart flights from Chișinău to Moscow starting 1 October. Moldova suspended air links with Russia after the start of the Ukraine War.

Igor Grosu, the speaker of Moldova’s parliament, has called the news on resuming Moldova-Russia flights “manipulation and disinformation.”

“It is a lie aimed at creating tensions within Moldova. It was, again, an instrument of manipulation and disinformation of this company, which is a company owned by criminals,” he said.

Hungary’s Wizz Air announced it would resume flights between Moscow and Abu Dhabi. All of the company’s flights to/from Russia were cancelled on 1 April.
