At least seven killed in Ukraine’s strike on Nova Kakhovka, Russia-installed officials report

At least seven people were killed in an attack by the Ukrainian Armed Forces on Nova Kakhovka, the pro-Russian “government” of Ukraine’s Kherson region, currently occupied by the Russian forces, reports. Vladimir Leontyev, the so-called “head of the military-civil administration of the Kakhovka district” provided this figure to Russian state news agency RIA Novosti.

Leontyev told state news agency TASS that 40 people had been injured and many still remained under the rubble. As a result of the attack, warehouses that stored mineral fertilisers and saltpetre exploded, the pro-Russian official said. A local hospital, marketplace and residential buildings were damaged following the strike, he added.

A fire continues on the premises of the warehouse, RIA Novosti reports.

Officials of the pro-Russian “administration” note that Ukraine deployed US-made HIMARS multiple rocket launchers in the strike.

Meanwhile, Ukraine reports that it destroyed a Russian ammunition warehouse. Operational Command South of the Ukrainian Armed Forces confirmed this on Facebook.
