Dmitry Kolker, also a professor at the Novosibirsk University, was sent to a pre-trial detention centre yesterday; it is unknown what he is accused of. Kolker’s son says Dmitry is also suspected of sharing classified information with China. The professor was detained in a hospital; he has incurable pancreas cancer and is unable to eat by himself.

Kolker’s home was searched yesterday and he was escorted to Moscow by plane. Taiga info, a Siberian media outlet, reckons the persecution might be linked with the case of Sergey Bagaev, director of a laser physics institute in Novosibirsk who was accused of embezzlement earlier.
