Ukraine reports the biggest prisoner swap with Russia since war began. A total of 144 people returned to Ukraine, most of them Azovstal defenders

Ukraine’s Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War has held another prisoner swap with Russia. A total of 144 people have returned to Ukraine, the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defence of Ukraine reports.

Ukraine points out that this is the “biggest prisoner swap since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion.” Among the swapped prisoners are 95 Azovstal defenders and 43 soldiers of the Azov battalion.

“The majority of liberated Ukrainians have serious injuries: gunshot and shrapnel wounds, explosion-related injuries, burns, broken bones and amputated limbs. All of them will receive emergency medical and psychological help,” the message says.

It is not specified how many prisoners Russia has received in the swap. Russia has not commented on the exchange so far.
