Ukrainian police prevent a terror attack against country’s leadership

The National Police of Ukraine report to have detained more than 800 people suspected of being involved in sabotage and intelligence activity, according to Ukrinform, Ukrainian state news agency, that cites the vice Minister of the Interior of Ukraine Yevhen Yenin.

“Thanks in large part to the information received from our rapid sources, we even managed to prevent a terror attack against the leadership of the country,” he said.

A total of 123 counter terrorism groups counting about 1,500 people were established in the National Police of Ukraine. These groups worked, among other tasks, on detaining the suspects and handing them over to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU).

At the beginning of March, The Times wrote that Ukrainian special services had managed to prevent at least three attempts on the life of President Volodymyr Zelensky. According to the newspaper, mercenaries of the Wagner group and Chechen special forces could be connected to the assassination attempts.
