An investigative procedure against Stein was initiated last week. Stein’s tweets about the war crimes committed by the Russian army in Ukraine was the reason behind the investigation, according to RBC.

Stein was sentenced to one year of custodial restraint last August as part of the so-called ‘Palace Case’. The case was initiated against numerous critics of Vladimir Putin after a series of rallies in support of Alexey Navalny last year.

Maria Alyokhina, another member of Pussy Riot, was placed on the wanted list earlier; she has now left Russia. Alyokhina had her ‘Palace Case’ probation term replaced by 21 days of imprisonment on 21 April for violating her probation curfew and removing an electronic tag from her ankle.
