Russia attacks Kyiv with drones for 11th time in May. Five people killed in shelling in Donetsk, Kherson, and Kharkiv regions
In the early hours of 20 May, the Russian army carried out a massive drone attack on Ukraine’s capital Kyiv, as per the local administration.
“This is the 11th air attack on the capital since the beginning of May! The enemy is doing everything possible in an attempt to hit the key facilities in Kyiv and simultaneously exhaust the resources of our air defence,” the statement reads.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force Command, Russia launched 18 Shahed drones on Kyiv in total, all of them were destroyed.
Drone debris fell down on the city: no one was hurt, however a resident building caught fire, while an auto repair shop, parked cars, windows of the resident building, and road surface were damaged, the city administration says.
In the night, air raid alarms were on in all of Eastern Ukraine — in particular, in the Chernihiv, Poltava, Kharkiv, Dnipro, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia regions.
The previous attack on Kyiv was carried out yesterday, 19 May. The cities of Kryvyi Rih (Dnipro region) and Lviv (Lviv region) were also shelled. Two people were injured in the attack on Kryvyi Rih.
