One killed, four injured in shelling of village in Russia’s Belgorod region

One man has been killed, four more have been injured in an attack on the village of Gorkovsky located in Russia’s Belgorod region near the Ukrainian border, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reports.

“One person has died, he sustained fatal fragmentation wounds. Four more people have been injured: three men have fragmentation wounds of lower limbs, while a woman is concussed. They are being rushed to hospitals by ambulances,” Gladkov noted.

The governor added that five shells exploded in the centre of the village, near a school, accusing the Ukrainian army of launching the attack.

On 2 August, the news emerged that territorial defence fighters in the Belgorod region were handed out weapons. In total, the regional territorial defence force in the regions includes eight battalions, consisting of 2,092 people.
