FSB reports detaining man plotting to assassinate Russia-installed Crimea governor

The FSB has detained a Russian national, 35, who was allegedly plotting an assassination of Sergey Aksyonov, the Russia-installed governor of Crimea, RIA Novosti reports.

The FSB claims the man had been recruited by Ukraine’s Security Service and trained in using explosives. He was allegedly preparing to blow up Aksyonov’s car but was detained as he was picking the bomb from a dead drop. He was charged with attempted terrorism and unlawful acquisition of explosives; the man pleaded guilty.

The FSB reported detaining several “Ukrainian intelligence agents”, allegedly preventing a series of terror attacks in Crimea, targeting Russia-installed officials.
