FSB charges Amur region resident with treason for allegedly donating money to Ukraine’s military

Russia’s FSB has reported detaining a resident of the Amur region for treason, TASS cites the security agency.

The FSB says the man was born in Ukraine’s Lviv region and is a Russian national. The agency claims he transferred his own money to Ukraine’s military on over ten occasions, sponsoring the purchase of kamikaze drones, quadcopters, ammunition, and military equipment.

The man is facing 12 to 20 years in prison or a life sentence.

The FSB reported detaining a resident of the Khabarovsk region on 21 June; the agency claimed the man had used cryptocurrencies to donate money to the Ukrainian military. He was charged with treason.

Russia’s president Vladimir Putin signed the bill on lifetime prison terms for treason on 28 April.
