Russian national charged with high treason, FSB claims he was collaborating with Ukrainian intelligence

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) reports to have detained a resident of the Primorsky region who, according to the service, had been providing information about the region’s law enforcement facilities and military infrastructure to Ukrainian intelligence, Russia’s state news agency TASS reports.

“The Primorsky region native, acting on instructions from Ukrainian military intelligence, gathered and reported information about law enforcement facilities and military infrastructure of the region to a representative of the intelligence,” the FSB public relations centre reports.

The man was detained, a criminal case on high treason was initiated against him. He faces either from 12 to 20 years behind bars or life imprisonment.

On 28 April, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the law on life imprisonment for high treason.

On 5 June, the FSB reported to have detained a resident of the Nizhny Novgorod region in relation to the case on collaborating with Ukraine’s special services. The man wanted to fight in the war on Ukraine’s side, the FSB claimed. He was detained back on 5 May, the court sent him to a pre-trial detention centre.
