The Slovakian parliament has passed a resolution to designate Russia’s current regime as a terrorist one and declare Russia itself a sponsor of terrorism.
The parliament condemned Russia’s aggression in Ukraine and voiced support for Ukraine’s independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. The members of parliament also denounced direct and indirect threats of using nuclear weapons made by Russia.
“[The parliament] condemned Russia’s large-scale attacks on the peaceful population, civilian facilities, and key energy infrastructure,” the statement reads.
Slovakia does not recognise results of the so-called referendums conducted by Moscow on Ukraine’s occupied territories. The parliament will also back any future efforts to establish a special tribunal to prosecute the Russian leadership for the war crimes it committed.
Moreover, the parliament criticised the hybrid war that Russia is waging in Slovakia. The document calls on law enforcement agencies, intelligence services, and other relevant offices to treat the threat seriously and take effective measures to maintain security and democracy in Slovakia.
