A 39-year-old resident of Russia’s Bashkortostan Denis Garayev has been given 1.5 years of a suspended sentence by a Russian court over charges of attempting to set a draft office located in the Isyangulovo village on fire; the corresponding documents have been posted on the website of the court.
The sentence was pronounced on 23 November 2022, but it only came to light now, Kommersant writes.
According to the judicial act, Garayev prepared an incendiary mix and put it in a bottle. Then, he went to the draft office and threw the bottle in one of the windows of the building, “however, he was unable to realise his criminal intent due to circumstances beyond his control”.
As a result of his actions, glazing worth 1,600 rubles (€21) was damaged. Garayev pleaded guilty.
The court considered his surrender, confession, repentment, and the fact that his elderly mother needs outside care due to her health issues to be mitigating circumstances.
