Russia’s Belgorod region head reports 1 injured in Shebekino town shelling, a third of town is under outage

A man has been injured in shelling of Shebekino, Russia’s Belgorod region, his forearm bones are fractured, regional Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported.

The man was rushed to a regional hospital, he is in moderate condition, the official clarified.

“The shelling affected the power supply. One-third of the town residents are left without power. Shells also landed on warehouses in an industrial area. Emergency response and repair brigades have been dispatched to the scene. The power supply will be reinstated shortly,” he added.

Shebekino and other towns in Russia’s Kursk, Bryansk, and Belgorod regions situated on the Ukrainian border have been regularly targeted by shelling after Russia invaded Ukraine in February.

In particular, a civilian woman was killed in shelling on 22 November. “She sustained a head injury when thrown back by the shockwave. Doctors tried to provide all the medical help necessary to her but she died in the ambulance without regaining consciousness,” Gladkov then said.
