Russia’s Defence Ministry has announced inviting experts from the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross to investigate the deaths of Ukrainian POWs in Olenivka, the agency said in a statement.
Ukraine’s military and security agencies demanded that the UN and the ICRC react to the situation since they were pronounced “guarantors of the lives and health of Ukraine’s POWs.”
“The key condition upon which we agreed to surrender our Azovstal defenders to Russia was that their lives be spared; this condition was flagrantly violated,” reads the statement.
Russia’s Defence Ministry published a list of 50 deceased and 73 injured Ukrainian POWs yesterday. The ministry claims all necessary medical aid was provided to the injured.
