Odesa’s Vorontsov Palace damaged in missile strike, mayor reports

The Vorontsov Palace, a 19th-century palace in Ukraine’s Odesa, was damaged in a missile strike, Odesa mayor Gennadiy Trukhanov said on the local government channel on YouTube.

“Windows were shattered, the stucco work and the roof were damaged,” he said. Trukhanov addressed UNESCO with a request to include Osesa on the World Heritage list. “We need this to retain our cultural heritage not only for the city of Odesa, but for the entire world as well,” the mayor explained.

On the evening of May 9, Odesa was hit with Russia’s Kinzhal missiles. President of the European Council Charles Michel was visiting the city at the time. On May 10, one person was killed and five civilians were injured in an overnight missile strike on Odesa.
