Ukraine army reports destroying a T-90M, Russia’s most advanced tank
The Ukrainian army has posted a video of a destroyed T-90M, Russia’s most advanced tank in service. The United Kingdom’s intelligence confirmed the matter on Saturday afternoon.
According to British estimates, Russian troops now have about 100 T-90M tanks, which are in service with the best trained units.
The Ukrainian army reported destroying the cutting-edge tank on 4 May near the locality of Staryi Saltiv in the Kharkiv region.
“An infantry fighting vehicle and an MT-LB armoured personnel carrier were also neutralised,” they said.
The T-90M tank is a modification of the T-90A model. It was developed in the 2010s and was first presented to the public in 2018. Mass production of the model began in 2021, although the Russian army received the first prototypes in 2020.
A total of 160 tanks were ordered by Russia’s Ministry of Defence. The tank is equipped with a new turret with a Kalina fire control system and a combat control system. The tank also has a 2A46M-5 cannon, a remote-controlled 7.62-mm anti-aircraft gun, Relikt modular dynamic protection and an improved fire extinguishing system. The machine is controlled with a steering wheel and has an automatic gear shift.
