Sevastopol governor visits injured crewmen of sunken Moskva cruiser. Their faces are not shown on video

Governor of Sevastopol Mikhail Razvozhayev has visited eight injured crewmen of the sunken Moskva cruiser. The politician published a video from the hospital on his Telegram channel.


“Soldiers with minor injuries that they got during the special military operation in Ukraine are recovering here. Eight sailors of the Moskva cruiser are among those recovering at the hospital,” Razvozhayev said.

Video footage from the visit shows the wounded sailors from the back. Their faces are not shown. The Sevastopol governor stated that all the injured crewmen of the Moskva cruiser “are practically recovered” and want to continue their service.

On April 13, Ukraine reported that two Neptune missiles had hit the Moskva cruiser. According to the Russian Defence Ministry, the warship was seriously damaged “as a result of detonated ammunition” caused by a fire onboard the ship. On April 14, Russia confirmed that the Moskva cruiser had sunk while being towed during a storm.

Nine days later, the Russian Defence Ministry confirmed the death of one crew member of the Moskva, adding that 27 crewmen are missing in action. According to the ministry, the remaining 396 crew members were evacuated and transported to Sevastopol.

Last week, Novaya Gazeta. Europe interviewed the mother of a conscript that served on the Moskva cruiser. Her son survived and contacted her the day after the cruiser had sunk. According to the woman, “about 40 people” had died in the sinking of the Moskva, and many were injured.
