Fourteen people were injured in a Ukrainian drone strike on the Russian city of Cheboksary, in the Volga region republic of Chuvashia, the deputy head of the republic’s government, Vladimir Stepanov, announced on Tuesday.

Ukrainian drones struck the city on Tuesday morning, targeting a residential building, the head of Chuvashia Oleg Nikolaev wrote on his Telegram channel.

According to Telegram news channel ASTRA, the residential building that was struck in the attack is located just 450 metres from a Russian defence manufacturing plant, VNIIR-Progress, which produces advanced electronic warfare systems and satellite signal receivers for various Russian missiles.

According to the Russian Defence Ministry, the country’s air defence forces intercepted 121 Ukrainian drones overnight, including 49 over the western Belgorod region, which borders Ukraine.

Meanwhile, Russian drone strikes on the city of Sumy in northeastern Ukraine left the city without power on Monday, Sumy region governor Oleh Hryhorov said in a Telegram post, as Russia continued to pummel Ukrainian energy infrastructure in massive combined drone and missile strikes.

On Saturday, Russia targeted energy infrastructure across Ukraine in a massive overnight attack, hitting multiple electricity substations in several Ukrainian regions and causing widespread power outages.
