Russia launched a massive range of airstrikes across Ukraine early on Tuesday, the Ukrainian Air Force said on Tuesday, with reports of explosions in the cities of Kyiv, Kherson and Odesa as well as in the Kyiv, Sumy and Dnipropetrovsk regions.

Following a nationwide air raid warning being issued at around 8am local time, the Russian military used both ballistic and cruise missiles as well as drones to carry out the strikes, the Armed Forces of Ukraine said.

In the capital Kyiv, the city administration reported damage to three buildings due to debris from a downed missile, but no casualties. There were also reports of explosions, with the emergency services saying that one residential building had been partially destroyed.

In the southern city of Kherson, a Russian drone struck a minibus, according to Kherson Governor Oleksandr Prokudin, injuring the driver.

Dnipropetrovsk Governor Serhiy Lysak said that his region of central Ukraine had also come under attack on Tuesday, but reported no casualties, while Odesa Mayor Hennadiy Trukhanov reported explosions in the southern port city, but gave no further details.

Mayor Mykola Noha of the city of Shostka in the northeastern Sumy region reported extensive damage to several residential buildings and other infrastructure.

The Russian Defence Ministry, which reported earlier on Tuesday that its air defences had shot down 68 Ukrainian drones over Russia and annexed Crimea, stressed that its overnight airstrikes on Ukraine had targeted an airfield and a military-industrial manufacturing company.
