Russia’s exiled opposition politicians Vladimir Kara-Murza, Yulia Navalnaya and Ilya Yashin have announced a new anti-war protest rally scheduled to take place on 1 March next year in Berlin.
“This demonstration must become a loud voice of the real Russia. A voice for life, for peace and for freedom. A voice against war, tyranny and political murders,” a joint statement from Kara-Murza, Navalnaya and Yashin read.
In their statement, the three politicians highlighted that February 2025 will mark three significant anniversaries: the 10th anniversary of the murder of Russian opposition politician Boris Nemtsov, the third anniversary of the start of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and one year since the death of Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny.
“Behind all these events stands the figure of Vladimir Putin. It was he who sent troops into the territory of a neighbouring state, unleashing the bloodiest war in Europe since World War II. It is he who personally gives orders for the physical elimination of his main political opponents in Russia,” the statement read.
The previous anti-war protest organised by Russia’s exiled opposition leaders took place last month in Berlin, where Kara-Murza, Navalnaya, Yashin and others addressed the crowd, which, according to estimates by independent Russian media outlet Meduza, drew in around six to seven thousand people.
