At least three people have died, and four more are “in a state of clinical death” after a bus fell into the Moyka River in St. Petersburg on Friday, the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reported.

Nine people were rescued, the ministry added.

Security footage from the scene shows a bus colliding with two other vehicles on a bridge, breaching the railing and falling into the water.

St. Petersburg police reported that around 20 people were inside the bus when it crashed.

Transport officials told local newspaper Fontanka that the bus driver had been detained. He will be charged with “violating road traffic rules resulting in the deaths of two or more people” and will face a maximum of five years in prison, Telegram channel SHOT wrote.
