Previous owner of car used in Moscow concert hall attack charged in court

The former owner of the white Renault believed to have been used by the gunmen responsible for Friday night’s Moscow concert hall terror attack was charged in a Moscow court on Monday alongside his father and brother.

The court press service announced that Dilovar Islomov, his brother Aminchon and his father Israil, would be held in pretrial detention until May 22 on charges of “aiding terrorists”.

Investigators believe that Shamsiddin Fariduni, one of the four men arrested on Sunday in relation to the terror attack, involved Dilovar and Aminchon Islomov in the plot to attack Crocus City Hall.

Dilovar Islomov, who said he got in touch with police after he saw his old car in news coverage of the concert hall attack, told Novaya Europe that he had sold the vehicle “about a week ago” to his wife’s brother.

One relative told Novaya Europe that the brothers had not answered their phones or been seen on social media for over 48 hours, giving rise to speculation that they had been detained.

On Saturday the Federal Security Service (FSB) and Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the detention of 11 individuals reportedly involved in planning and carrying out Friday’s attack.
