Multiple drones downed overnight amid strikes on Ukrainian cities and Russian power plant

Four drones were shot down in the southern Ukrainian city of Mykolayiv overnight, regional Governor Vitaliy Kim said on Telegram Monday, while four more were downed over nearby Odesa, Ukrainian military authorities reported.

The commander of the Southern Ukrainian Defence Forces said that a drone strike on an energy facility in Mykolayiv caused a fire to break out, which had since been extinguished. Another drone damaged a residential building after it was shot down, injuring 11 people, two of whom were hospitalised.

Odesa Governor Oleh Kiper reported that a drone attack had targeted energy infrastructure, leaving parts of the city without power overnight.

Across the border in the southern Russian region of Rostov, a fire broke out after a drone hit a power plant station in the city of Novocherkassk on Sunday night. Rostov Governor Vasily Golubev said that the fire had been put out and nobody had been injured.

Regional news outlet This is Rostov reported drone sightings followed by explosions. The Russian Ministry of Defence said on Monday that 11 drones had been shot down in the region overnight.
