Russian strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure continue despite Moscow terror attacks

As Russians attempted to come to terms with the country’s worst terror attack in 20 years, the Russian military continued to pummel Ukraine with both drones and cruise missiles overnight on Saturday, according to the Ukrainian Air Force.

Russian forces launched some 29 cruise missiles, 18 of which were shot down, as well as 28 Shahed drones at the Dnipropetrovsk, Kherson, Mykolayiv, Odesa, Sumy, Kyiv, Volyn and Lviv regions, 25 of which were intercepted, according to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Air raid sirens sounded in Kyiv during the night and again on Sunday morning, according to Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko, with missile debris reportedly falling on a wooded area of the city.

Missile debris falling on the central Ukrainian city of Kryvyi Rih damaged heating networks and power lines and left thousands without heating. The debris of a downed drone also damaged a power facility near the Dnipropetrovsk region city of Nikopol.

In the Kherson region, six people were injured due to the attacks, Governor Oleksandr Prokudin said, while in the western Lviv region, a critical infrastructure facility was hit, regional authorities said.

The Polish authorities reported that its military had scrambled aircraft overnight in response to a Russian cruise missile briefly entering the country’s airspace.

“The object entered Polish space near the town of Oserdów and remained there for 39 seconds. During the entire flight it was observed by military radar systems,” Poland’s Operation Command said in a statement.
