Peskov hits back at ‘Hollywood cowboy’ Joe Biden for ‘shameful’ Putin comments

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has accused US President Joe Biden of acting like a “Hollywood cowboy” after he called Russian President Vladimir Putin a “crazy SOB”, state news agency Interfax reported on Thursday.

“We have a crazy SOB like that guy Putin and others and we always have to worry about nuclear conflict, but the existential threat to humanity is climate,” Biden said at a fundraiser in San Francisco on Wednesday.

In response, Peskov said on Thursday that while Biden’s remarks were unlikely to offend Putin, they represented a “disgrace” for the USA.

“If the president of such a country uses such vocabulary, well, he should be ashamed,” Peskov said, adding that Biden was trying to use “Hollywood cowboy-style behaviour … to cater to domestic political interests”.

He went on to suggest that Biden’s team should try to “find at least one offensive statement” directed at the US President by Putin.

Biden, who has previously labelled Putin a “butcher” and a “war criminal”, said on Friday that the Russian President had been responsible for the death of Russian opposition leader Alexey Navalny, who had been “calling out Putin’s lies”.
