Navalny’s mother calls on Putin to hand over her son’s body for burial

Alexey Navalny’s mother has publicly called on Russian President Vladimir Putin to hand over her son’s body.

In a video posted to Navalny Live YouTube channel on Tuesday, Lyudmila Navalnaya said that she had not been able to see her son’s body for five days and that she didn’t even know where it was being kept.

“I appeal to you, Vladimir Putin. Let me finally see my son. I demand that you hand over Alexey’s body immediately so I can bury him in peace,” Lyudmila Navalnaya said.

Navalny’s widow Yulia Navalnaya, who pledged to continue her husband’s work on Monday, also demanded that Alexey’s body be handed over to his family.

“I don’t care what the killer’s press secretary has to say about my words,” Navalnaya said on X, referring to Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov dismissing the accusations of Putin being behind Navalny’s death as “boorish and unsubstantiated”, adding: “Hand over Alexey’s body and let us give him a proper funeral.”
