Poland says Russian missile entered its airspace from Ukraine

General Wiesław Kukuła, chief of the Polish General Staff, has said a Russian missile entered the country’s airspace Friday from the direction of Ukraine. The missile went 40 kilometres into Polish airspace and left it three minutes later.

The Polish army put its forces on high alert after the violation of its airspace, its press service reported.

According to Polish Army press secretary Jacek Goryszewski, the object was seen near the city of Zamość, near the border with the Lviv region of Ukraine. In response to the incident, Polish President Andrzej Duda convened an urgent meeting of the country’s military leadership.

The Ukrainian authorities reported multiple strikes by Russian troops on the country’s civilian and military infrastructure overnight, particularly in the Lviv region, in the west of the country. According to Maksym Kozytskyy, the local governor, 13 multi-storey buildings, two schools and many cars were damaged in Lviv. One person was killed, 15 were injured, and four others required hospitalisation.
