At least 51 people killed in missile strike on village in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region

At least 51 people have been killed in a Russian missile strike on a grocery store in the village of Hroza in Ukraine’s Kharkiv region, Ukraine’s Interior Ministry said on Thursday.

The Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office said that there was a child among the killed, while seven local residents were injured.

“Russian terror must be stopped. Anyone who is helping Russia bypass sanctions is a criminal. Anyone who still supports Russia supports evil. Russia has committed this and similar terror acts for one reason only: to make its genocidal aggression a new norm for the entire world,”Ukrainian President Volozymyr Zelensky said.

An investigation into the attack has been opened for premeditated murder and on the grounds that the attack violated the laws and customs of war.

Ukraine’s Minister of Interior Ihor Klimenko said that the missile hit the building while a wake was happening inside. In total, 60 people were in the building at the moment of the strike, with 29 of the victims identified as of now. The recovery operation is ongoing. Around 300 people lived in the village before today.
