Wagner Group fighter accused of killing 4-year-old stepdaughter while on leave in Russia

A 31-year-old Wagner Group mercenary has been accused of murdering his four-year-old stepdaughter, the Russian Investigative Committee in Lipetsk, a city in western Russia, reported on Monday.

The suspect’s name is Vladimir V., he was recruited by the Wagner Group in April, Russian Telegram channels Baza and Ostorozhno Novosti wrote. He returned home for leave in late August and lived with his wife Tatyana.

On 1 October, the couple got into an argument, Vladimir first hit his wife several times and then beat up her daughter, Ekaterina, from a previous marriage. Doctors who were called to the apartment confirmed that the child had died from head trauma.

The suspect was detained by the police and charged with murder.

In late September, a 55-year-old man, who was previously sentenced to 11 years behind bars for murder and pardoned after joining the Wagner Group to fight in Ukraine, doused his sister in gasoline and burned her alive in the town of Zavolzhye, the Nizhny Novgorod region in central Russia.
