Missile downed over port of Sevastopol in annexed Crimea

Russian air defence systems shot down a missile over the port of Sevastopol in annexed Crimea, the Russian-installed city governor, Mikhail Razvozhayev, said on Saturday.

Missile debris landed on the northern part of Sevastopol, Razvozhayev said, warning locals of ongoing “missile danger”.

Maritime traffic has been temporarily halted in Sevastopol Bay, Russian state news agency RIA Novosti reported.

This the second day in a row that the Ukrainian military has carried out a missile strike on Sevastopol, which is the headquarters of Russia's Black Sea Fleet.

According to Ukraine's defence intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov, at least nine people were killed in Friday's strike. So far, the only official statement to have been issued by the Russian Defence Ministry said that a serviceman had gone missing following the attack.
