Russian MoD reports drone attack near Moscow

A fixed-wing drone was taken down by the air defence in the Istra district of the Moscow region, says Russia’s Defence Ministry. The attack was recorded at around 3 a.m. Moscow time.

Sergey Sobyanin, the mayor of Moscow, says no people were hurt and no damage was caused. There are response teams on the site.

RIA Novosti reported that at least 24 flights were delayed and eight were cancelled in Moscow’s airports. The Vnukovo and Domodedovo airports clarified that they had restricted flights for about an hour; the schedule is back to normal now.

Russia’s Defence Ministry reported downing 42 Ukrainian drones “over Russian airspace” yesterday. “As a result of the Russian Armed Forces’ actions over the territory of Crimea, nine UAVs were destroyed, 33 were neutralised by electronic warfare means and crashed without reaching the target,” the agency’s statement read. Moscow’s Vnukovo and Domodedovo airports were temporarily closed due to drone threat.
