Putin expresses condolences to families of victims of Prigozhin’s jet crash

Russian President Vladimir Putin has commented on the reports of the Wagner chief’s death during a meeting with DPR head Denis Pushilin on Thursday.

Putin expressed condolences to the families of all those who died in the crash on Wednesday. He also said that Yevgeny Prigozhin was a “talented man with a difficult fate” who had made “serious mistakes in his life” but achieved the “needed results”.

Preliminary data shows that Wagner Group employees were on board. I would like to note that these people have strongly contributed to our common cause of fighting the neo-Nazi regime in Ukraine. We will not forget that,” Putin said.

A jet presumably carrying Wagner founder Yevgeny Prigozhin and his deputy Dmitry Utkin as well as several other Wagner members crashed Wednesday evening in Russia’s Tver region. All ten people on board the jet were killed in the crash.
