Belgorod region of Russia attacked by drones

Air defence systems in the Belgorod region of Russia shot down “12 air targets” on their approach to Belgorod, the regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov said on Sunday.

According to him, the regional air defence system was activated over Belgorod and the district. “Twelve air targets were downed on their approach to the city,” he added.

Local Telegram channels reported that loud sounds were heard in the city.

Gladkov clarified that three air targets had been shot down in the air space of the city of Belgorod and the Belgorod district. According to initial reports, there were no victims or damages.

The Russian Defence Ministry said in a statement that air defence systems had shot down two “fixed-wing UAVs”. Later in the day, the ministry reported that a third drone had been destroyed.

This is the sixth, seventh, and eighth drones reported to have attacked Russia today. During the night, a drone crashed into the roof of a railway station in Kursk, injuring five. Another drone attempted to attack Moscow. Three drones were downed in the Rostov region.
