Fifteen Shahed drones downed in Ukraine

In the early hours of 19 August, 17 Iranian-built Shahed kamikaze drones were launched at Ukraine, with the country’s air defence downing 15 of them, the Ukrainian Air Force reported on Saturday.

According to the Ukrainian military, the Russian army launched the drones from the Kursk region of Russia. The Ukrainian air defence systems were successful in shooting down the UAVs in the northern, central, and western regions of Ukraine.

Over the past day, the Ukrainian army has also shot down six reconnaissance drones and one Lancet kamikaze drone, as per the statement.

The Ukrainian Air Force has also carried out over 10 group attacks on “facilities, personnel assembly areas, weapons, and military equipment of the enemy” in the last 24 hours, the statement concluded.
