Shootout between Kadyrovites and military police in occupied village near Mariupol leaves multiple dead

A shootout between Kadyrovites and soldiers of the Russian military commandant’s office took place Saturday evening in the Russian-occupied village of Urzuf near Mariupol, Ukrainian authorities reported.

The city council of Mariupol claimed in a Telegram post that at least four Russian soldiers were killed in the altercation. The post included a video presumably showing the aftermath of the shootout — two vehicles exhibiting signs of gunfire damage and two bodies.

Petro Andriushchenko, adviser to the mayor of Mariupol, reported that the shootout also led to the deaths of seven civilians — two teenage girls, four young men, and one woman.

“The Kadyrovites were sent to Urzuf on holiday and clashed with the local military commandant’s office. They started tearing off each other’s epaulettes, and a shootout ensued,” Andriushchenko wrote detailing the reasons for the conflict.

Russian authorities have not yet commented on the incident.
